Below is the list of artworks in the exhibition at Surry Hills Library and Neighbourhood Centre.
The competition has now closed for entries. 572 entries were received, including 15 group entries, so the number of participants was over 600. To say that there were many excellent entries is an understatement. This has made it hard for our panel to choose the 60 shortlisted entries, and there were many more entries we would like to have included but just could not. To those that missed out, we hope that you have enjoyed entering this year's competition. Please be assured that simply by entering you have played a part in helping to raise awareness about our threatened species. We hope you will enter again next year.
Our panel has been looking not just for entries that are accomplished artistically, but those that met other criteria:
1. Concept: How well the work relates to the threatened species theme 2. Composition and colour: How well the elements work together to convey the theme 3. Expression: How imaginatively the work conveys an idea or emotion, or incorporates a specific story. In other words, we have been looking for difference and imaginative ideas, and the emotional expression that can be transmitted through art.
Shortlist of 60 artworks.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? All the works on the shortlist will be presented to the judges. . Our panel will be choosing 40 works to hang in the Surry Hills exhibition from the 60 on the shortlist. Then they will be professionally photographed.
